Do moving companies offer insurance to their consumers?
Moving companies don't actually sell insurance directly because they are not insurance companies. The moving company is the insured party and most will sell "valuation" to the consumer. Valuation is a declaration by the consumer of the maximum value that the moving company will be liable for. There are different amounts of valuation with varying deductables. Similar to insurance, the higher levels of coverage with lower levels of deductibles cost more money than lower amounts of coverage with higher deductibles. Movers only have insurance on items damaged or caused damage by them.
